So yeah I would totally read that chapter where Oda shows Zoro’s past in the manga ‘cause it’s quite a bit different than in the anime. You’re not wrong in that Toei included that as a filler scene, but it is not in the manga so it isn’t canon. So it did happen, but only in filler so it’s not actually canon. Yeah you’re talking about an anime only scene where he picked up like nine shine and tried to shove three in his mouth and three in each hand (numbers not exact). My memory is a bit spotty, so thnx for the correction :D Huh… I remembered Zorro trying to defeat Kuina using three swords, or I at least remembered a time when he uses 3 shinai… So when Zoro fights with three swords, Kuina is fighting alongside him. Zoro fights with two swords but Kuina fights with one and that one is Wadou. So if anything Zoro developed three sword style as a way to incorporate Kuina’s and Wadou into his fighting style, a way to give her a blade in all of his battles. However, it was only until after her death that he developed Santoryuu and it’s always and only ever been Wadou that he clamps in his mouth. Even when he went up against Kuina he did so using his strongest style - two swords. Zoro was already well known as an excellent fighter with two swords. I actually just wanted to point out the fact that in canon (manga and not anime) Zoro doesn’t develop the three sword style until after Kuina’s death and the sword style seems to have actually stemmed from his memory of her. Suddenly began to wonder what if it was Zoro that dies instead of Kuina, and she ended up taking Zoro’s place in the story?
